On political violence This is a post about the effects of the latest (as of the time of this writing) act of political violence in America. If you celebrated it, this isn’t for you.
PSYOP for the common man I'm starting a new writing project at the bequest of some friends: explaining psychological operations and influence operations with the goal of helping people identify, understand, and counter the myriad influence operations that we are all being saturated with these days. I'm setting a personal goal
A picture is worth a thousand words... Like all true mountain-lovers, she got altitude sickness if she spent too long at sea-level. – Robert Macfarlane, speaking of Nan Shepherd introducing her book The Living Mountain. It's been a year and a half since I was last in the mountains; I've come to realize this
Weekend Photos (2023-09-24) I spent the weekend reading and writing while watching some friends' dog. I got a few photos in that I was happy with.
A Study in Composition I figured I'd collect a few everyday carry items for a showcase photo. This is admittedly more ramble than gallery, but it was a productive, instructive, and divertive endeavor that let me exercise some pent-up creativity.

LMT N°3: On the world as it is Some of you may have forgotten about this newsletter - I know I did. Insert well-meaning platitudes about meaning to do this more regularly; for now, I'll just try to write this one :)
Some Notes on Ultralight Packing I need to work on my packing strategies. Importantly, I’ve been learning that I pack too much stuff and that my packing is pretty disorganised. I needed to figure out how lighten and organize my load.
LMT N°2: New beginnings and delayed transmissions Well, the first (only!) newsletter went out in August of last year, which means this is almost a year late! .. I’m not going to try to cover all of the year in between so that I might actually get this one written.
